Peter Newman, Chief Executive Officer

Peter leads the team at Endemol Shine Australia as Chief Executive Officer. He’s been with the company since 2012 and took the reins as CEO in 2020. Prior to his current role Peter served as Chief Content Officer at ESA and was part of the leadership team that built the powerhouse production company that is ESA today.  

Peter has lead ESA’s creative teams to deliver some of the biggest and most awarded hits on Australian television over the last decade, programmes that include: MasterChef, Survivor, MAFS, Big Brother, LEGO Masters, Hunted, Australian Ninja Warrior, Gogglebox, Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds, and in the scripted space: NCIS: Sydney, Bali: 2002, Underbelly: Vanishing Act, RFDS amongst many others. The success of ESA’s content slate has led to the company’s rapid expansion in recent years. Peter attributes this growth to the inclusive team culture and the company’s determination to put creativity at the heart of everything it does. 

Before joining the team at ESA, Peter was Head of Production and Development at Australian broadcaster SBS where he developed and delivered one of SBS’ most iconic series, the International Emmy winning series Go Back To Where You Came From. Peter’s career began at the BBC in London. He started out in live music before progressing to documentaries and sport where he worked on some of the biggest live events in the world including the Olympics, the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon.
